Witch hazel (Hamamelis virginiana extract) is a plant of the Hamamelidaceae family. Rich in tannins and flavonoids , it has astringent and anti-haemorrhagic properties. Originally from the United States, it has been cultivated in Europe for some time now. Its numerous properties were already known by the natives of America who used it as a healing agent, later its properties against sunburn were known.

One of the main properties of this plant is its beneficial effect in protecting the venous walls which make Witch Hazel products excellent against skin affected by couperose , useful in the treatment of skin blemishes , in the treatment of acne , in the prevention of damage caused by free radicals and as emollient in dry skin. It also has antibiotic properties.
Witch hazel is particularly suitable for the treatment of oily, impure skin, with excessive sebaceous secretions and dilated pores, as well as delicate, irritated, bruised and dehydrated skin. Acts as a skin conditioning agent, improves the appearance of dry or damaged skin, helps reduce flaking and restores elasticity .
